Taking AP tests while still in high school can end up saving you time and money in college. We outlined various important reasons for taking AP classes in high school on our
AP Classes page.
Most students who take the AP tests have taken the corresponding AP course in school. However, AP tests are also available to home-schooled students and students who have studied and prepared for the AP exam on their own. There are more than 30 courses and exams across multiple subject areas.
Students need to consider planning their schedules as early as 9th grade so they remain on track for AP level courses in their junior and senior years.
